Local councils

Local councils in the Netherlands are ambitious when it comes to saving energy, but often have one problem: Money. In times when local councils have to save money, it is even more difficult to free up cash to invest in energy saving. Councils do indeed have enough money, but those funds disappear into usually gas-fired energy systems. So we have developed a service with which councils can save energy on a budget-neutral basis only by using the existing energy budget. We call that service Zero Budget Sustainability (ZBS). This makes it easy to achieve the council’s carbon reduction goals within the existing energy budget. Even carbon-neutral becomes possible.

Councils have had a so-called Energy Performance Appraisal – Utility (EPA-U) drawn up for many public buildings, including the associated energy labels. These reports often wind up in the drawer, which is a missed opportunity. But it’s easy to understand why little happens with these reports. It is difficult to turn all that data into useful and manageable information. So we have developed a web-based service that delivers clear management information based upon available data. The EPA-U reports serve here as the starting point.
