Rabobank
“Rabobank makes use of the so-called Energy Program from Ploos van Amstel Milieu Consulting (Ploos). Almost all local Rabobank branches, locations of Rabobank Nederland and various affiliated organisations are connected to the Energy Program. Ploos receives all energy invoices and pays them as soon as they have been checked. All energy bills are linked to the connections of the sites concerned. The floor area and headcounts of all sites are known, which means we have a continuous view of the relative consumption per location. Should the energy consumption rise noticeably at any time, Ploos will notify the organisation concerned. We also make use of the carbon reduction module. Every year, Ploos visits the 10% worst-performing locations and draws up Energy Performance Appraisals – Utility (EPA-U) for them. Ploos informs subscribers annually of the proposed energy-saving measures that have and have not been realised. Thanks to the Energy Program, Rabobank has current management information at its disposal. Ploos is in a position at any desired moment to deliver the requested data. The data generated via the Energy Program is used, among other things, for energy purchasing, energy management and the annual corporate social responsibility report, but also to form the carbon footprint per participating organisation”, says Ruud Cuppers, Service Chain Manager, Facility Management, Rabobank Nederland.

Philips Lighting
Philips is the world’s Number One when it comes to lighting, a ranking it achieved through innovation leadership coupled with a systematic approach to the market. We intend to offer lighting solutions that improve people’s lives while at the same time being more environmentally friendly.
So it’s no coincidence that Ploos van Amstel Milieu Consulting and Philips Lighting found one another. Both companies possess experience and expertise with regard to energy saving. Saving energy means saving money, as well as saving harmful carbon emissions that contribute to climate change, one of the cornerstones of the sustainability policy at Philips.
Thanks to this collaboration, companies, organisations and institutions can have a so-called ‘energy benchmark’ carried out one time, free of charge and entirely without obligation. By delivering the relevant data, interested organisations can gain insight into their relative energy consumption per site. Their energy consumption is then also compared with the industry average. That shows at a glance which sites are performing well, or even poorly, in terms of energy, as well as the financial consequences that entails. Thanks to the results, participants can determine the site(s) at which energy-saving measures will deliver the best returns. -
Carglass
Corporate social responsibility is playing an ever greater role. One element of CSR is saving as much energy as you can and keeping your carbon footprint as low as possible. Its holding company, Belron, judges Carglass® not only in the financial area but since 2008 also by its carbon emissions. More and more customers are demanding that the services of Carglass® have an environmental impact that is as low as possible.
Responsible for CSR at Carglass® is Remco van Duijvenvoorde, Purchase Manager and Coordinator for Quality, Health & Safety and the Environment. “Carglass® has been working together with Ploos van Amstel Milieu Consulting (Ploos) since 2006,” he says. The immediate background was the freeing up of the energy market for companies. Joost Ploos van Amstel has helped us enormously in concluding fixed contracts for electricity and gas for the 55 Service Centers and the head office. Carglass® at once decided to have the invoicing from the energy suppliers handled centrally by Ploos, which meant a substantial saving in workload in Accounts Payable. And not only a workload saving, but also better control of the costs. Carglass® lacked the specific know-how to be able to check energy bills.
Ploos loads all the comparative figures in one database, so Carglass® has immediate insight into the consumption at the various Service Centers. With that insight, the “energy scan” was the next logical step. With the energy scan, which is carried out by qualified people from Ploos on site, we now have perfect insight into our consumption and know precisely where we have to take certain actions. One really useful component of the scan is the specific measures you can take as a business to lower your energy consumption, complete with an investment overview.
We now equip new Service Centers as standard differently than we did in the past. And there are plans for the first carbon-neutral Service Center. That would never have been possible without the help of the people from Ploos.
I’m really looking forward to the next step. There are plans to extend the energy benchmark by total carbon emissions, so including the emissions caused by transport. If that carbon model can be certified externally, Carglass® can demonstrate to its customers that the carbon reduction we claim is not just a reduction on paper.
